‘SHUDDHI ANDHOLAN’ of Goa On   february   23rd   1926,   after   more   than   400   years   of   oppression   and   destruction   of the   Konkan   culture   in   Goa,   about   8000   Kunbis   and   Gaudis   of   Goa   converted   back   to their   tradional   ‘Sanarthan   Dharma’   (commonly   called   hinduism   today)   and   changed christian   names   to   tradionationl   Konkanni   names.   However   the   catholic   portuguese government   and   the   church   disallowed   this   and   refused   legal   status   to   the   names chosed by indigenous people of Konkan Goa .
